Petals and Thorns - Review

In exchange for her father’s life, Amarantha agrees to marry the dreadful Beast and be his wife for seven days. Though the Beast cannot take Amarantha’s virginity unless she begs him to, he can and does take her in every other way. From the moment they are alone together, the Beast relentlessly strips Amarantha of all her resistance. If Amarantha can resist her cloaked and terrifying husband, she gains his entire fortune and will be allowed to return to her family and a normal life. But the Beast seduces her at every turn, exposing, binding, tormenting, and pleasuring Amarantha until she no longer knows her own deepest desires.Increasingly desperate to break the curse that chains his humanity, the Beast drives Amarantha past every boundary. But her desire for a normal life may jeopardize the love that will save them both.

Petals and Thorns by Jennifer Paris gives an erotic spin to the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. All Amarantha has to do to claim the Beasts wealth for her family is to resist his charms for a week and not give her virginity. Although the Beast wont forcibly take her virginity he does dominate her in every other way possible to try to change her mind and beg him.
I was intrigued by this man right away, he is cloaked throughout most of the book, we see his hand which has fur and claws that alone paints a hideous picture of his face he never shows but he is endearing and charming and romantic in his domineering way. He makes sure Amarantha is taken care of.
The majority of the book is the beast making her submissive to him and his needs, him raining down pleasure on her trying to break her will to him. I really liked these two characters together, they each filled a need in the other and while the outcome wasn't a surprise i loved the chemistry, sensual heat and power struggle between them.
This was a great read, erotic, romantic, written well, i loved the dialogue and it had a steady pace. Despite the beast being hidden by his cloak most of the book i found him deliciously sexy, he was a contradiction to how you'd expect him to be and by the end of the book i was as eager to see his face as Amarantha was.
Some quotes i loved:

“My lord?” The Beast turned back to her. “Which part was play and which part my punishment?”
Her father had told her that any ninny could keep her legs closed for one week, and here she sat, legs impossibly spread, filled with restlessness and feeling oddly desperate to give a monster whatever he asked of her.

“Amarantha, my bride, will you beg me to collar you, chain you to my bed, and fuck you?”

A wonderful take on the fairytale i look forward to the next sexy story from the author.

I give Petals and Thorns by Jennifer Paris 4 Sparkles out of 5! a RAWR-ingly scrumptious read!
