Blue Moon - Review

Just as Ever is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an immortal, initiated into the dark, seductive world by her beloved Damen, something terrible is happening to him. As Ever's powers are increasing, Damen's are fading—stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life.

Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, uncovering not only the secrets of Damen's past—the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden—but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker each day...

**Summary taken from Author Website**

Everything for 16 year old Ever (still not sure if i think that's a cool name or not) is going well, it's several weeks since she became an Immortal, she's happy learning the ways from her 600+ year old boyfriend and chugging back the red immortal elixir juice that keeps them alive and well..immortal (ha!) (Sidenote: i imagine the juice to be like Ribena..i freaking Heart Ribena!) Cue cute British boy to ruin things. (I do like when the Brits are the baddies!) We'll get back to his Brit-ness in a moment, firstly i liked Roman as the bad guy, Out for revenge against Damen,  he wasn't all guns blazing bad. No he was worse, he was manipulative and everyone was under his spell except Ever. Despite her dislike if him she couldn't stop him poisoning Damen, and soon Damen had no memory of her, of loving her, it was so sad seeing her heart break as he ridiculed her in front of the whole class, as each day passed everyone, including her best friends all became more enamoured with Roman, and the only place she could turn to to find help, to break the spell, to get Damen back was to travel to the Summerland and get answers.. only she doesn't know how to get there, Damen was still teaching her... and it's when she's finally there she discovers she can turn time and go back to when her family was still alive, her big dilemma is does she save the boyfriend and be with him, or have the life she lost?

This was a good follow on book from "Evermore" To read my review go HERE. I really enjoy Alyson Noel's Immortals series. It is written in the first person, usually a pet peeve of mine but it detracts nothing from enjoying the story, and a factor i like about this book is uaually YA stories have no adult presence seemingly allowing the teenager to do as they please, but Ever's aunt Sabine is ever present, worrying over her niece, wondering if her relationship with this boy is making her have an eating disorder (Immortal Ribena Juice means they don't have to eat)

So, i'm always intrigued when i see a British character in the mix of an American story, it's another pet peeve when they're not written 'British' enough (no, i don't mean swigging back earl grey tea and talking of brollys!) if 'Brit' words are going to be incorporated then i'm going to want them to be correct! Roman had all his Brit words correct, even used Bollocks right (instead of 'Bullocks' which some writers think we say it :P ) he said "mate" and "love" correctly and just when i thought he'd passed my Brit test he stumbled with using "Parking lot" doh! and he was so close to passing too!  we don't use that, it's a car park. (you're welcome for the Brit lesson!) Roman was my favourite secondary character in Blue Moon. Hoping he will feature too in Shadowland book three.

This was an enjoyable read, and the cliffhanger ending just makes me all the more ferocious to buy Shadowland Damn you book buying ban! The summary's for Shadowland and the soon to be released Dark Flame sound amazing! I can't wait to dip back into the Immortal Series.

I give Blue Moon by Alyson Noel 4 Sparkles out of 5 - A Jucilicious YA read.
