Evermore - Review

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, Ever can see auras, hear people's thoughts, and know a person's entire life story by touch. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen.

Damen Auguste is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head—wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can see straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. She has no idea just who he really is—or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

I don't read many YA books, but when i do i want the story to hook me in right from the get go, If i get bored im pretty sure to dump the book unread. But Evermore by Alyson Noel The first book in The Immortals series was a real page turner.

Getting to know Ever, Damen, Haven, Miles and Riley was a pleasure. For any teenager or adult that's lost loved ones you'll empathise with Ever as she struggles with her grief when her family are killed, and you'll go along for the ride as she struggles to contain her new ability of hearing thoughts, seeing auras and just knowing things by touching them. It's only when the new student cute boy Damen joins her school she feels normal when being around him quietens everything around her.

Even though it's a million and one years ago since i was a teenager i smiled at the flow of Ever's relationships with her two school friends Haven and Miles, the "Dibs i saw the cute boy first" rule that was just absolute amongst friends, and it's only in stories you get the funny gay friend who i would have killed to have back in school, Miles was so funny to read i loved him instantly.

Since the accident that killed her family, Ever had been visited by her dead sister, and although i did like these sections of the book i felt Riley spoke older than her 12 years, since it wasn't that long ago they died im assuming she'd still speak as a kid, and i just felt she was more sassy young adult than annoying little sister...although she was that too. But that didn't take away my enjoyment of her, she was kooky and sassy and a pain in the butt, but she loved her sister enough to not let her be left behind...and there's a part near the end i don't mind saying i had a little sniffle at. ( I read Riley is getting her own spin off series too)

People have said Evermore has a tinge of Twilight, and yes if you mean theres a teenage girl and an older guy pretending to be 17 and in love with the girl, there is that similarity, but Damen is no Edward Cullen, he doesn't sparkle for one, but he also doesn't hide from his feelings for Evermore, he's waited for her lifetime after lifetime and he's determined to get the girl this time. I loved watching them fall in love...and it's not all easy going, there's twists and turns, intrigued, death threats.

Like i said a real page turner. A must read for anyone who loves YA books or who just wants something different to the genres they usually read.

Im very much looking forward to reading Blue Moon book two in the Immortals Series.

I give Evermore by Alyson Noel 4.5 sparkles out of 5.

Smooch!
