Evermore - Review

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, Ever can see auras, hear people's thoughts, and know a person's entire life story by touch. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen.

Damen Auguste is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head—wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can see straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. She has no idea just who he really is—or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

I don't read many YA books, but when i do i want the story to hook me in right from the get go, If i get bored im pretty sure to dump the book unread. But Evermore by Alyson Noel The first book in The Immortals series was a real page turner.

Getting to know Ever, Damen, Haven, Miles and Riley was a pleasure. For any teenager or adult that's lost loved ones you'll empathise with Ever as she struggles with her grief when her family are killed, and you'll go along for the ride as she struggles to contain her new ability of hearing thoughts, seeing auras and just knowing things by touching them. It's only when the new student cute boy Damen joins her school she feels normal when being around him quietens everything around her.

Even though it's a million and one years ago since i was a teenager i smiled at the flow of Ever's relationships with her two school friends Haven and Miles, the "Dibs i saw the cute boy first" rule that was just absolute amongst friends, and it's only in stories you get the funny gay friend who i would have killed to have back in school, Miles was so funny to read i loved him instantly.

Since the accident that killed her family, Ever had been visited by her dead sister, and although i did like these sections of the book i felt Riley spoke older than her 12 years, since it wasn't that long ago they died im assuming she'd still speak as a kid, and i just felt she was more sassy young adult than annoying little sister...although she was that too. But that didn't take away my enjoyment of her, she was kooky and sassy and a pain in the butt, but she loved her sister enough to not let her be left behind...and there's a part near the end i don't mind saying i had a little sniffle at. ( I read Riley is getting her own spin off series too)

People have said Evermore has a tinge of Twilight, and yes if you mean theres a teenage girl and an older guy pretending to be 17 and in love with the girl, there is that similarity, but Damen is no Edward Cullen, he doesn't sparkle for one, but he also doesn't hide from his feelings for Evermore, he's waited for her lifetime after lifetime and he's determined to get the girl this time. I loved watching them fall in love...and it's not all easy going, there's twists and turns, intrigued, death threats.

Like i said a real page turner. A must read for anyone who loves YA books or who just wants something different to the genres they usually read.

Im very much looking forward to reading Blue Moon book two in the Immortals Series.

I give Evermore by Alyson Noel 4.5 sparkles out of 5.

Sweet Surrender - Review

Under Faith Malone’s deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants. A strong man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything…

Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner—and bring him to justice. So far, he’s found a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it.

Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she’s playing games. No way she would allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?

Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it’s no game she’s playing. She’s willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner’s killer has to be his first priority. Until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her

Although this is the first book in Maya Banks Sweet series me being scatty brained have actually read the series backwards so this first book is my last in this series ( did i confooze you? HA ) Reading Sweet Persuasion GO HERE FOR THE REVIEW and Sweet Seduction (Not reviewed but it's a great read!) I was intrigued to finally read Faith & Gray's story since they feature as secondary characters in the books i've just mentioned, and i have to say the book didn't let me down in any way. Faith was a sweet caring woman working with her adopted family, being the glue that kept everything ticking over. Usually i get irritated very quickly with the leading lady, she's usually whiny or worse, forgetable. But i liked Faith, i liked how she went after what she wanted even if she was a little unsure about it. Wanting to explore the D/s side of sex she goes to Damon's (Sexy guy in Sweet Persasion)  Sex club to fullfill her fantasies, she likes what she sees until shes getting spanked and it's not sparking her flame...Until... Enter Gray from stage right, then the sparks are positively blazing! I love their chemistry, even just when they're talking i find them both likeable as a couple and fans of BDSM will like this book, there's nothing to squick you out (not a stick of butter in sight! woo hoo)

Along with Faith exploring her submissive side, the storyline had a darker deceitful line, Gray knew the killer of his cop partner was dating Faiths not so nice Mother, so keeping an eye on Faith would hopefully bring him the connection he needed to nab said killer. I was satisfied with how that part of the book was wrapped up but for me the hook to the whole story was Faith and Gray falling in lust then love, i never tire of that story.

As always Maya Banks kept me waiting for the sexy time (seriously, she hates me! -_- ) but when it arrives you wont be disappointed, I loved Gray just as much as i did Nathan and Damon in the following books, he is this tall sexy rugged guy with an air of grief and mystery about him and determination to find who killed his friend but then you get hit in the face with his possessive all out sex on two delicious legs and it was sexy time galore. GALORE PEOPLE!

&& Giant bonus for me, i've not been quiet about the fact Micah has been my favourite through this series (His book is out next! SQUEE!) and he features oh so deliciously in Sweet Surrender too....boy does he feature! I wont spoil...but you HAVE TO read this book. HAVE TO!

Easy flowing storyline, characters that stay with you, lush sexy times, intrigue, intense.. a must read.

I give Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks 4 sparkles out of 5.

Start me Up & First drop of Crimson - Double Review

Lori had always planned to get out of tiny Tumble Creek, Colorado, but when her late dad left her his beloved auto body shop, she'd stayed. Now, according to her crazy best friend, Molly, what Lori needs is some excitement, in the form of hot, no-strings-attached sex…and lots of it.

Quinn Jennings has buildings on the brain—not love and romance. A serious architect, he's delighted to discover that Lori is willing to skip dating protocols and head straight for the sheets. And aided by the steamy books on Lori's bedside table, he's busy indulging both of their wildest fantasies. But when life in Tumble Creek takes a dangerous turn for Lori, Quinn's protective instincts kick in.

Suddenly he cares. More than either of them ever expected….

I found Lori & Quinn to be a cute couple, there's nothing i don't like about a sexy geek and Quinn is all sexy Geek! and a story revolving around a no strings attached affair is win win for me. The story takes a turn away from the sexiness when Lori is being pressured by someone to sell her late father's land, Although i guessed who it was it was still written well and i liked that different edge to the book to mirror alongside Lori and Quinn falling for each other.
Quinn reads the erotica books Lori has been reading to get pointers on what she would like, and he really delivers, the smexy time is scorching, Quinn may be a geek who is easily consumed in work but when the boy is turned on and focused he is turned ON. Rawr! Although this book follows Molly's story in Talk me Down it still stands as a read alone book. Molly was a cute addition to Start me Up she's the kind of friend i like to encourage her friends to get a lil some some.
Well written, really good dialogue and a sexy geek guy playing the dominant. Definitely a must read.

I give Start me Up by Victoria Dahl 3.5 sparkles out of 5.

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows—her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield—and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness—and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human—even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together . . .
Because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost.

Going into this book i was beyond excited, as a new fan of the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost i couldn't wait to get my hands on Spade's book, he really stood out for me in the Bones and Cat saga.
Quick story synopsis: Man owes Demon his soul - Man takes off with soul leaving Demon all Grrr - Denise's family is getting offed one by one mysteriously - Demon brands Denise with tats slowly turning her into a demon if she doesnt find
Man (distant relative) - Denise hates all things Paranormal & is all snooty nosed when the Vampire Spade offers to help her find Man... a first book in the spin off to the Huntress books i really liked it. The story was faced paced but not unbelievable, it brought back beloved characters Bones and Cat, along with Ian and Mencheres, just seeing Bones again made me a lil swoony, i do so love that vampire. Ian i find his dry wit to be a joy to read i hope he has a book one day oh...and he has piercings 0_o 'Nuff said!

Spade was and is a character i loved reading about and would continue enjoy reading him, his feelings for Denise felt real to me his dedication to helping her was really endearing, i just wished i had felt that connection to Denise. It would be unfair to say i hated her because i didn't, she just didnt make me feel anything, and at times she had me saying UGH out loud at her whiny indecisive attitude. When Spade and Denise did finally get jiggy that was the only time i felt the two characters jelled well. Maybe i was expecting too much, after you've read Cat & Bones together that deep intense connection that they come alive from the page i just didn't feel it for Denise and never did throughout the Huntress books or FDOC which dampened my enjoyment on what was a terrific story with characters i'd become to love.

For Spade alone i would read this book, for the additional characters i would read this book, for kick ass demons i would read this book, for a fast paced exciting storyline i would read this book and for the scorching sexy time i would read this book. The writing style is easy and fluid and i just adore picking up a book by Jeaniene Frost. I eagerly await
Mencheres story in Eternal Kiss of Darkness. Released 27th July.

I give First drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost 3.5 sparkles out of 5.

The Wicked West & The Tin Star - Double Review

When Lily Anders gave up her proper English roots to settle in the Wild West, she didn't dare hope that she'd meet someone who shared her own wicked bedroom secrets. But the virtuous Sheriff Hale has never told anyone about his shocking desires. Will he give in to the surprising temptation of the young widow?

Taking into account this is just a short story, a mere 95 pages long, it did pack quite a bit in, moving countries, old dead husband, starting a business, submissive, sadistic and masochistic, dominant behaviour, a sexy sheriff, shootings, cattle rustling, and a woman who isn't afraid to go after what she wants, even though it's from a time when women just didn't do that.

I applauded Lily for being brave enough to go after Tom, this guy she didn't know but recognised something in his uptight self knowing he was the man to give her a right good spanking!

As an erotica story this gives you everything you want, the BDSM was smexi, its a really good intro for those who haven't read anything about it before. I love that as the submissive Lily is actually the strong independent in charge one, she knew she wanted Tom from the moment she saw him and dang she went for him, so bold and upfront as to do a lil DIY play in front of her bedroom window knowing he was watching. You go girl!

And while i did enjoy the erotic side of the story something was lacking for me, i wanted Tom to be less "this is wrong, im an animal for thinking of doing those kinds of things to this sweet innocent woman" I understand why he was like that, he thought his first wife had left due to his "disgusting" sexual attentions, but come on Tommy boy, there's a hot lil woman getting off in front of you letting you know she's hot to go and STILL you question yourself. Im too much an alpha male lover i guess, and the setting of...what im thinking is a century or more ago really isn't my kind of story i usually go for, I much prefer modern day settings. But when they finally get on the same page it is simply delicious! A must read for if you like your sex a lil kinked.

I give The Wicked West by Victoria Dahl 3 sparkles out of 5! Smut-tastic!

When James Killian comes out to his father, he finds himself banished from his home and fired from his job. His savior comes in the unlikely form of Ethan Whitehall, his older brother's best friend. Ethan has always had a soft spot where Jamie Killian was concerned, and he will do whatever it takes to keep his new lover safe.

You know those romance storys that just make you go all mushy inside and say "Awww" alot? well The Tin Star by J.L Langley is one of those books! I loved the mix of humour and romance between Ethan and Jamie, both were adorable and sexy and rugged cowboys. Jamie had always had a crush on his older brothers friend, Ethan and it was apparent soon as Jamie stepped foot on The Tin Star ranch there was a spark between them both. It was soon after their first kiss took place. And oh my wow! Now anyone who knows me knows im all for the manlove, so to read an entire book full of it is always a good day for me, and Jamie and Ethan didn't disappoint and woo hoo not a stick of butter in sight!

I like how both characters dealt with the homophobia, especially from Jamie's Dad, i had hoped it would be resolved in someway towards the end, and even though some of the towns people were downright idiotic towards mostly Jamie since not many people knew Ethan was gay (how could they not, he had sexy manlove written all over him!) it brought both main characters closer together. And for once it was lovely to read a m/m book where the characters weren't all filled with angst over being gay.

Side characters i loved, John and Julia, Jamie's brother and sister, although i had thought John being best friends with Ethan would have had at least a 2 minute conflict over him shagging his younger brother, but he took it in his stride, even when he walked in on them in bed together. Its not a major complaint just a something that niggled at me since im sure gay or not id have something more to say other than "oh you're together now?" if my younger brother was fooling around with my friend 11 years his senior. But anyways, that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story in the least!

Spot and Fred, horse and dog brought a humour to the book that i loved, both made me laugh out loud several times.

Anyone interested in M/M romance books will love this, it's an easy story to follow, with characters you want to bitch slap, hug, laugh with and perv on when the manlove is heated!

For the manlove scenes, there's nothing kinky really, some toy play but nothing that made me go 0_o so i could throughly enjoy it. Jamie and Ethan although got together within the blink of an eye, i never found it weird, they were just falling in love and i for one loved being along for the journey with them.

I give The Tin Star by J.L Langely 4.5 sparkles out of 5! Love-tastic!

PS. you will ADORE what happens at the end. So romantic!

  • Don't forget to pop to their blogs as let them know they have been tagged!
  • Once tagged... you have do do the same, grab the button, answer the questions, and keep it rolling! But don't forget the picture of the sexy man! It doesn't have to match your fantasy man, just a little eye candy for the rest of us.
  • And don't forget to go back to the Gutter Girls blog and share your book boyfriend post =)

1- Hair colour and style
It has to be dark. He has to be fanfreakingtastic book boyfriend for me to make an exception and go for blonde. Lengthwise i like something to grab and yank, pointless having hair if a Bear cant pull it ;)

2- Eye colour and facial features
Give me deep blue and i am a puddle of goop on the floor! Seriously i have a giant yen for blue eyes. I like a nice chiselled face, with a covering of light stubble and lips that my teeth just wanna sink deep into. And he must MUST have nice even white teefs in his gob! LOL

3- Height and body type
im a short ass at 5'4 but i still want my man TALL size. 6'2 - 6'6. Gimme a giant! Think Swimmer build and you have what makes me drool, lean, sleek, with abs that can take a weeks worth of laundry on them and must MUST have that V dip { you know what i mean, right girls? ;) } I dont want any kind of Yetti man, so not too much hair ( Think Robin Williams hairy arms YACK! ) a light dusting on the chest and a delish happy trail down his belly. His butt has got to look good in a nice pair of jeans (that hang low to reveal that V again...Mmmmm)

4- Visible age
I can go a lil younger than me, so from 28 - 38

5- Bangability ie: kinky/bi/size
Pointless having all that sexy body and not being able to go until the cows come home, right? so Stamina yes please! Kinky yes. Bi yes, then i can haz the manlove too! *SQUEEE* and size, not gonna pick a dinky winky! If im not walking like ive been on a horse for a week then he's the wrong damn size and will be sent back to the Boyfriend making factory for an upgrade!

6- Human or other
Eek now this is the one i am stuck on, cus i like lots of different kinds! Human (like Roarke) and Other (Bones/Vishous/Wraith/Eric/Shade) So i will choose SHIFTER! So i can have all of the above and more =D *pats clever self on the back*

7- Paranormal skills
Easy peasy! Teleport. then i can be "having" him in mere seconds!

8- Interests
Im his number one hobby ;) But when hes not playing with me ( i need rest after all, the cooch will beg me for it! that is :P ) id like him to be seriously into books, a guy reading is damn sexy, or he can tinker with his motorbike ( and be sexily covered in oil and grease dressed only in low riding jeans and a white tank top...OH MY!)

9- Habitat
My Shifter has many places to lay his head. But his main space is a glass house on a secluded beach. Bedroom overlooks the sea.

10 Special skills
His skill is he can read my every desire and gives me it. Be it to laugh and be goofy or to be a durty gutter girl and scream like a banshee.

My candy offering is....

I tag..

Deep Water - Review

Bryn Case, a Glacies demon, is a dive instructor at a very exclusive resort. When she meets Kael, a sexy guest, she thinks she's found her soul mate. But Kael is a Water elemental dragon, and losing his heart to a demon is not something he's prepared to do.

Bryn Case is a Dive instructor in one of the most beautiful places on earth at a very exclusive resort. On the evening she meets Kael, a sexy guest at the resort, she thinks she's found her soul mate. Kael on the other hand, a Water elemental dragon, knows Bryn, a Glacies demon, is exactly what he's been looking for his entire life, and curses it. After all that had happened so far, to lose his heart to a demon is not something he's prepared to do. Between treasure hunting and her love of the sea, Kael knows this woman is everything he's ever wanted. Its just finding and dealing with the demon that has her soul that's going to be the one thing standing between him and his destined mate...

Disclaimer: Ebook provided by Author.

So the sisters Price did it again. not only was i charmed into liking Dragons for the first time ever with Char in "Fire in his Eyes" Read my Review HERE they made me intrigued by the secondary dragon character Kael, he and his sea monkey pets, so i was looking foward to reading "Deep Water" and Kael and his sea monkies didn't disappoint.

"Yeah? So what was it with the scores of sea monkey tanks in your bedroom?"
"What about them?" Surely she didn’t find them silly. He frowned at her. "They're pets..."
She giggled. "Well seeing a very old and wise dragon, such as yourself..." she grinned. "It just
seems odd that you would have the brine shrimp about your bedroom."
"They’re pets." he repeated sniffing. "My pets, not just shrimp... I know them by name."
She got closer, treading water. "All of them? Really? That’s kinda endearing actually. It’s a quirk, I
like it, like I like you."
"They were a present. I'm just so damn good at looking after them that they keep growing and breeding."
(Kael with his sea monkies make me giggle every time!)

I really liked the ease in which Kael and Bryn gravitated towards each other. Drawn to the other just as the ocean called to them. I thought it was lovely to see what i'd only known Kael as this gruff snarky character now being flirty and loving and shy too when it came to showing Bryn his dragon form. I never tire of watching two people fall in love, and just as i liked Alycone (fire in his eyes) for her gobby mouth, i liked Bryn for her gumption and straight talking, she wasnt meek or cowery like some heroines are wrote, and i liked that. She accepted Kael for who he was and loved him for it.

Now you wanna know the good stuff right? Yeah, i know you do...Now you have to wait for the hip bumping, there is lots of flirting and kissing, but no instant sexy sexy time in Deep Water...But ohh when it comes (haha pun intended!) it is GOOD! It's so sexy it made this innocent girl blush (stop laughing!) And dayum, Dragons have stamina! And there's just something so damn sexy about having a mating mark put on you!
I was happy to see the family element in Deep Water too. Kael takes Bryn home to meet them, it was good to see the sexy Char again, along with Alcyone, Spiria and Perrin (who has turned into such a flirty dragon boy...RAWR!) And we got to see the two Alpha Dragons Char and Kael go get back Bryns bargained soul, LOVE seeing them together all macho and Grrr.
There are lots of "Awww" moments in this book, one including Kaels dolphin pets. the pod follow him wherever he goes, and just like the sea monkies i found it endearing.

Now i want Perrins's always the quiet ones that are the sexiest!

I give Deep Water 4.5 out of 5 sparkles.

Fantasy in Death - Review

"They were best friends, driven by one shared vision - to rule the world of virtual reality games. Cill, hard-edged and beautiful, Var and Benny, brains and business acumen, and Bart, the genius behind the idea. Their newest invention, developed to transport the player into a fantastical virtual world, is just about to be launched. Then, suddenly, Bart is found brutally killed, defeated by their own game. Their close-knit group is torn apart. Who could have engineered a virtual death with such devastating consequences? Even Eve Dallas, New York City's most cunning investigator, is hard-pressed for an answer. But as she digs deeper, peeling back layers of secrets, revenge and misplaced allegiances, she realises with growing dread the depth of the killer's master plan. And she knows his game is far from over..."

To say im a HUGE 'In Death' series fan is an understatement. I heart these books so much, they're like old friends you love to visit with. This is the series i like to pimp out whenever i can, just because it's not labelled as "Romantic" but Crime Thriller so many people will avoid it, even though it's written by the fantastic Nora Roberts using her pseudonym J D Robb. It IS based always around a murder, Eve is a murder cop, but it's so much more than that. The characters each book you know a little more about them, i love how the relationships build, friendships forged, families made. And i was surprised to see i actually liked the crime part of the book too, Eve picking away at each clue to uncover the murderer i was engaged with.

Right from book one i was hooked and this book 37 i was still sooo eager to get my hands on it. My heart sank when i saw the storyline was about gamers...ugh..bane of my life! My guy friends are intense gamers, whenever im around them they're battling some demon or fighting some war, so i wasn't looking forward to seeing it in the pages of my fave series! But since the whole books are based in the year 2060 the games aren't like our ordinary Xbox's. it's all virtual and i was as fascinated and baffled as Eve was to figure out how two people died alone while playing on a Virtual game they'd invented. One had his head cut right off! To use a phrase from a character in the book called McNab, that murder scene was "Frosty" (apparently in the year 2060 that means good, Great, awesome. Go figure! )

For anyone who loves In Death too this is a must read. i found it to be a real page turner. And for the In Death virgins go get Naked In Death right away! you must! you'll love them!

My awesome "normal" Book Boyfriend Roarke did not disappoint me either. I could have done with 200 more pages of just him in many smutty naughty durty scenes How he loves Eve just melts me into a puddle of goop. It's so amazing that in these books of death, murder, blood and gore you get this sweet intense love affair that just warms a girls heart - Yes i know thats waxing lyrically, but its TRUE! I love when Eve and Roarke have blazing arguments too. 'Cus you know soon after they're gonna get to sexen. And yes, i will admit its no smut...but it is sweet and loving, and while the book isn't based on sex, it is full of family dynamics and really character based. I love those type of stories, and no one writes familes/friends better than Nora Roberts.

One point i wanna make (besides all the rambling gushing so far!) Is do the publishers actually read the books? My thoughts is a big fat NO since the cover resembles NOTHING about "In Death" Nor the story. Not once is Eve on a Bridge or being WTF! and She doesnt have long hair! While i don't base my book buyage on Cover alone i do think IT IS important to have accuracy. I vote for a nekkid pic of Roake on there next time.

I wonder who i gotta see about that? hmm..

I give Fantasy in Death 4 sparkles out of 5 (it would have been 5 out of 5 had there been MORE Roarke! )

PS. i cant beeeelieve i gotta wait until November for the next one. Doesn't JD ROBB know i need a faster fix than November?!?! *Le Sigh* And so the wait begins!

PPS. Who IS the fecking candy thief stealing chocolate from Eve's office each book?!?! My money is on Mcnab or Peabody. I hope we get to find out soon! lol
